While I’m not positive the ad is new, its new to me. As my wife was scrolling through Instagram she got an ad from Google promoting their Nest and Home Hub products, which gives the 1996 slasher Scream the smart home treatment.
This isn’t the first time Google has given cinema the smart home treatment. This past Christmas Macaulay Culkin reprised his role as Kevin from Home Alone for Home Alone Again, where smart home technology helps make Kevin a bit more efficient against the wet bandits.
In the Scream ad, Casey Becker, played by Drew Barrymore, outsmarts Ghostface in his game of deadly crank calls thanks to the help of her Google Home Hub, probably saving her life and greatly decreasing Stu and Billy’s body count in the town of Woodsboro.
