Sean Keller Announces October Release of ‘The Killer Sounds of Halloween: The Final Chapter’

If you’ve followed along on All Hallows Geek over the last several years, you might recall a little album debuting in 2019 called “The Killer Sounds of Halloween.” Conceptualized, written, and performed by actor and writer Sean Keller, the release was a fast favorite of mine and went on to spawn 2020’s “Revenge of the Killer Sounds of Halloween” and 2021’s “The Killer Sounds of Halloween 3D.” On Tuesday, Keller took to social media to announce the next installment of “The Killer Sounds of Halloween” with “The Killer Sounds of Halloween: The Final Chapter.

The new album, which will be released on October 1, will feature 13 new spooky songs from 13 new fake bands. For the upcoming release, Keller brings back past collaborators Chelsea Stardust, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Fayna Sanchez, and Josh Miller and the new voice talents of Aurora Perrineau, Shannon Purser, Bruce Vayn, Chris LaMartina, Melissa LaMartina, and Teri Gamble.

“The Killer Sounds of Halloween” was born of Keller’s long-time love of mix tapes and the Halloween mixes he was making leading up to 2019’s “The Killer Sounds of Halloween.” At the time, Keller was including a cover song that he recorded, like TV on the Radio’s “Wolf Like Me” in the style of Love & Rockets and Dolly Parton’s “Drinkenstein” in the style of White Zombie. These tracks sparked the idea of creating a mix tape full of “lost songs.” “In 40 years of making Halloween mixes, I felt that I had exhausted all the great horror tracks out there, so I would need to make my own,” said Keller in a 2019 interview with All Hallows Geek.

To make the mixes feel authentic, Keller includes music faithful to different genres and periods and even gives each song a fake band name to perform under. The past three installments have spanned genres, including everything from New Wave and Rock to Country and even Rap.

If you’ve not experienced the magic that is “The Killer Sounds of Halloween” or any of its album sequels, all three are available to stream via Keller’s bandcamp, and you’ll be able to find “The Killer Sounds of Halloween: The Final Chapter” there on October 1!
