In February, I shared that Shout! Factory had struck a deal with Laika Studios to release new collectible editions of some of the studios’ most popular films on Blu-ray. This week, we’ve learned the release dates and further details around some of the upcoming releases.
The releases are part of a multi-year home entertainment distribution deal allowing Shout! to release the animation studio’s first four films, including “Kubo and the Two Strings,” “The Boxtrolls,” “ParaNorman,” and “Coraline” in the US. The first two films to be released in the collection will be “Coraline” and “The Boxtrolls,” both of which will be released on August 31, 2021. Both films will be available as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and will include all-new bonus features.
On “Coraline” bonus features will include:

- NEW “Inside LAIKA” – Revisiting The Puppets With LAIKA’s Animation Team

On “The Boxtrolls” bonus features will include:

The release of “Coraline” and “The Boxtrolls” will be followed by “ParaNorman” and “Kubo And The Two Strings” on September 14. While bonus features for the final two films have not officially been announced, all four films are expected to include never-before-seen test footage, feature-length storyboards, character, concept art, and behind-the-scenes photo galleries; art & essay mini-book; and feature new artwork.
Both “Coraline” and “The Boxtrolls” are available for pre-order now, with pre-orders from ShoutFactory.com including limited edition 18×24 lithographs, while supplies last.
