Buzzy new horror film “Skinamarink” from writer/director Kyle Edward Ball will arrive on horror streaming service Shudder on February 2.
The film, which premiered at Fantasia Fest 2022 and saw a limited theatrical release in North America on January 13, 2023, crossed the $1 million mark just six days into its release, earning the film an impressive 67 times its production budget of $15,000. While the buzz around the film has been constant, the reception among horror fans has been polarizing, with some fans loving it for its unique, low-budget, experimental feel. Unfortunately, some fans have hated it for these same attributes. Some are describing a viewing of “Skinamarink” as more of an “experience” than a traditional horror film.
Set in 1995, the film centers around a brother and sister who wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished.
While the film will arrive on Shudder in February, it is still screening at select theaters, so if you can’t wait until next week to see what all the buzz is about, you still have time to check it out on the big screen.
