This week, Nickelodeon announced the 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards, which will air live on Saturday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) and be hosted by actor, comedian and Saturday Night Live legend Kenan Thompson. This year’s list of nominees features more spooky shows and stars than I remember in years past with “Stranger Things,” Hubie Halloween, and “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” earning a collective seven nominations.
“Stranger Things” earned a total of four nominations, coming in just behind Justin Bieber who had the most nominations at five. The hit Netflix series is nominated for Favorite Family TV Show, as well as Favorite Male TV Star for Caleb McLaughlin and Finn Wolfhard, who play Lucas and Mike on the series, and Favorite Female TV Star for Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven.
Hubie Halloween, the surprise Netflix hit from Adam Sandler, scored two nominations, one for Favorite Movie and one for Sandler as Favorite Movie Actor for the role of the film’s protagonist Hubie Dubois.
Nickelodeon’s own “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” earned a single nomination for Favorite Kids TV Show. “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” returned as a limited miniseries in 2019 and is slated to premiere its second season later this month.
Fans can vote for this year’s nominees now on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, KidsChoiceAwards.com, and on the Screens Up app on supported iPad, iPhone and Android devices in the U.S. International fans can cast votes through the Nick Play app in regions where it is available. Fans will also be able to cast their votes through social media on Twitter.
