‘Stranger Things’ Teases Something New with Bizarre Hawkins Lab Closure Video

Beyond a few set photos and cast interviews, things have been fairly quiet on the “Stranger Things” front in recent months, but on Wednesday, the “Stranger Things” YouTube channel posted a bizarre video titled “HNL Control Room” that teases something new for Thursday.

The video’s description reads, “Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice. We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00AM ET.” The video itself is nothing more than seven monitors in a circular pattern, all showing snow that occasionally flashes an actual image.

The images that flash on the screens appear to be locations throughout the Hawkins Laboratory. When the first screen flashes, it briefly shows a door fixed with extra locks. The second screen then shows a room with a rainbow design on the floor and its walls. This room appears to show up on a few other monitors over the course of the video but showing different angles of the room. Other images that appear on the screens appear to show items spattered in blood, including a white cabinet, a chessboard, a magic eight ball, another item that looks to be made of cubes that I couldn’t quite make out, and some large wooden dice.

While it didn’t appear like this when it made its debut, we did learn of a rainbow room when Eleven connected with her mother in season two of the Netflix series. We also know that Eleven wasn’t the only gifted child at Hawkins lab that was part of Dr. Brenner’s program. We met Kali AKA Eight in season two and have been introduced to several other gifted children via the comic book series “Six” and “Into The Fire.”

Could tomorrow’s reveal introduce us to another one of these gifted children? Perhaps it’s the “off-limits” number one Jody Houser previously shared she wasn’t allowed to use in the comic series? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, check out the Hawkins Lab video below:
