Today is April Fools Day, which means the internet is full of falsehoods and fallacies. Super7, on the other hand, decided to unleash a prank that you could actually buy.
For $5, fans of the Universal classic The Invisible Man could buy an April Fools Day variant of Super7’s Invisible Man ReAction figure. The figure was posted to the Super7 store website with the following description:
It used up our supply of Monocane, but we have finally concocted the perfect Dr. Jack Griffin, aka The Invisible Man! This version of The Invisible Man is like nothing you’ve ever seen. So realistic is the invisibility effect that we strongly suggest you not remove the figure from its packaging as you may never find it again! Don’t let appearances fool you, no Universal Monsters collection would be complete without this special April Fool’s Day variant of The Invisible Man.
The joke here of course is that there obviously isn’t an actual ReAction figure in the package. Instead, Super7 has released an empty cardback that has the Invisible Man figure and his image removed to appear “invisible.” It’s a strong commitment to an April Fools Day “prank,” but it’s one that seemed to resonate with collectors. As of the time of this writing, the “figure” had sold out.
