If you didn’t get the opportunity to experience The Mystic Museum’s “Slashback Video: The Beginning” before COVID-19 hit, or if you live out of state and have never had the chance to visit, you’re in for a treat this afternoon when Midsummer Scream hosts a special live tour of the exhibit featuring the team who brought it to you.

The live tour will take place this afternoon, Friday, May 8, 2020, at 3 PM PST and will be simulcast on Midsummer Scream’s YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

“Slashback Video: The Beginning,” is the third iteration of the all-horror VHS art installation Slashback Video, which made its debut in 2017. The popular exhibit is the work of Mystic Museum owners Kiko Bailey and Erick Wessel, Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek and his wife Ciara and is an homage to the video stores of the ’80s and ’90s and the horror VHS that they housed.

The latest installment of the exhibit takes things in a slightly new direction. While still giving you that old school video store experience, it also adds a narrative to the exhibit and built into it more interactive experiences and photo ops.

I was fortunate to visit the exhibit on opening night, which you can read more about here. This is definitely something horror fans won’t want to miss.

If you still want to experience “Slashback Video: The Beginning” in person, both The Mystic Museum and Ryan Turek have stated that the exhibit will re-open and extend its run whenever California lifts its orders that have forced the museum to close due to COVID-19.
