SYFY has unveiled it’s October 2020 lineup, and this year it’s full of themed programming marathons as well as the world premiere of Tales From The Hood 3.
The “spooktacular” fun kicks off on October 1 with the television premiere of The Strangers Prey at Night at 9 p.m. EST. Then every week leading up to Halloween, the network will air a different movie marathon. The network will also world premiere Tales from the Hood 3 on Saturday, October 17, at 9 p.m. EST. The latest installment in the horror anthology from executive producer Spike Lee was written, directed, and produced by the duo Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott and stars Tony Todd and Lynn Whitfield.
Not all of the movie marathons are horror-themed, but here are some of the highlights:
- Bust a Gut Halloween (Saturday, 10/3 from 12:50 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET/PT):
SYFY kicks off the Halloween season with a day of frighteningly funny films including Zombieland, Monster House, and The Mask. - Ride or Die Marathon (Tuesday, 10/6 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET/PT):
SYFY hosts a night of high-octane thrillers, including Wrong Turn 2, Dead End, Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, and Drive Angry. - Don’t Fear the Sequel Marathon (Monday, 10/12 from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET/PT):
SYFY hosts an entire day of horror favorites and their sequels back to back including 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, The Strangers, The Strangers: Prey at Night, The Purge, and the SYFY premiere of The Purge: Anarchy. - What’s Eating You? Marathon (Thursday, 10/22 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET/PT):
The undead takeover SYFY when they host a full day of zombie films including Zombieland, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, 20 Weeks Later, Zombie Night, Dead 7, Rise of the Zombies, and Zombie Apocalypse. - A Nightmare On Elm Street Marathon (Thursday, 10/29 from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET/PT):
1…2… Freddy’s coming for you, but we’re skipping three and headed straight to four in this incomplete A Nightmare On Elm Street marathon that includes A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, and Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. - Mask Up Marathon (Friday, 10/30 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. ET/PT):
Remember when Jason Voorhees taught us about the importance of wearing a mask? Well SYFY is giving us a reminder that safety comes first in an all-day marathon of masked up murderers that includes Halloween (2007), Leatherface, Jason X, Jigsaw, The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, The Mask, Friday the 13th: Jason Goes to Hell, and You Might Be the Killer.
Outside of movie marathons and premieres SYFY is also showing plenty of horror in its daily schedule throughout the month of October. Other highlights include Insidious: The Last Key, Boo! A Madea Halloween, Sinister, and more. Check out the SYFY schedule for a daily look at what’s going to air.
