Midsummer Scream has announced that guests attending this year’s event will have the opportunity to catch a special advance screening of the “Spirit Halloween: The Movie” teaser trailer during the third day of the convention.
The film’s screenwriter Billie Bates will be on hand to present the trailer and discuss the film. Her spec script for “Spirit Halloween: The Movie” earned her a spot in The Writers Lab 2018; she was a finalist in the 2018 Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition and won an award at the 2018 Nashville Film Festival.
“Spirit Halloween: The Movie” is about a group of middle school kids who sneak into an abandoned Spirit store on Halloween night and discover too late that it’s actually haunted. When the animatronics come to life, their night of fun will become a night of survival that leverages their combined ingenuity and tests the strength of their friendships.
The film is directed by David Poag and stars Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future” franchise), and Rachel Leigh Cook (“Love Guaranteed”), along with Donovan Colan (“Zoe”), Dylan Martin Frankel (“Raven’s Home”), Jaiden Smith (“Blue Bloods”), Marissa Reyes (“Raven’s Home”), and Marla Gibbs (“El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie”). The film is slated for an October 2022 release.
Midsummer Scream 2022 will take place at the Long Beach Convention Center from July 29-31. Single-day, weekend, and Gold Bat VIP passes to this year’s event are available for purchase at midsummerscream.org.
