Today the second, and the potentially final episode of Telltale’s “The Walking Dead: The Final Season” is being released. The season, which was intended to be four episodes long was abruptly cut short last week when Telltale announced the surprising closure of its studio. While it was unclear at the time of the announcement whether the game would be completed, a tweet from the developer last night offers a glimmer of hope in a resolution to the franchise.
“Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion,” Telltale tweeted. “While we can’t make any promises today, we are actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form. In the meantime, episode 2 will release tomorrow across all platforms as planned. We hope to have answers for your other questions soon.”

The timing of the studio’s closure is unfortunate. While we may still get a resolution to “The Walking Dead,” other titles that were in development like the previously announced “The Wolf Among Us: Season Two” and the “Stranger Things” game, which was being developed in partnership with Netflix will likely never be released. Telltale is expected to make further announcements regarding its product portfolio in the coming weeks.
