Steven Spielberg’s 1975 thriller “Jaws” turns 50 this year. In addition to a line of new toys from NECA, the iconic film is getting its largest-ever exhibit at The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, CA, to celebrate.

“Jaws: The Exhibition” is the first-ever exhibition of this scale at the Academy Museum, focused exclusively on a single film, and the largest mounted exhibition ever for the Oscar-winning movie. Opening in September, the exhibit explores “Jaws” scene by scene through original objects, behind-the-scenes revelations, and interactive moments. It will dive deep into the film’s production history and feature over 200 items curated from the collections of Steven Spielberg, The Amblin Hearth Archive, NBCUniversal Archives & Collections, and more.

Opening on September 14, 2025, “Jaws: The Exhibition will run through July 26, 2026, and tickets are on sale now.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, “Jaws” arrived in theaters on June 20, 1975, and became the first summer blockbuster, forever changing the movie industry. Adapted from the novel by Peter Benchley, the thriller tells the story of a menacing great white shark that terrorizes the summer beachgoers of Amity Island.

Though the production was plagued with uncertainty due to setbacks caused by rough seas, technical issues with the mechanical shark, and a script that had to account for it all, “Jaws” went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, in 1976 and would help solidify Steven Spielberg as one of Hollywood’s greatest filmmakers.
