Black Friday is just days away, which means the gift buying season is upon us. If you’re looking for the perfect gift for that spooky someone in your life, here are the All Hallows Geek holiday gift picks for 2020.
Misfits Holiday Fiend 8-Inch Clothed Action Figure
Due to be released later this month, NECA’s latest take on Misfits mascot The Fiend gets a holiday look complete with a long tailored robe and a removable Santa hat. Standing at 8-inches tall, this poseable figure comes with a fabric present sack and two sets of hands. Also included are two interchangeable heads, creating both the classic look of the Fiend and a highly stylized version rendered in artwork painted by the late, great Basil Gogos. This is a must-have for The Misfits fan in your life. The Misfits Holiday Fiend is still available for pre-order through Entertainment Earth.
Waxwork Records Spinatures
The perfect gift for the horror and music lover in your life, Waxwork Records’ first foray into the collectibles space introduced Spinatures, highly detailed turntable-spinner mini-busts featuring some of your favorite genre characters. Spinatures made their debut with Frankenstein’s Monster, but in recent months have expanded to include characters from the Halloween franchise, They Live, and more! Don’t have a turntable? That’s ok! Waxwork took into account that not all collectors are vinyl enthusiasts, so Spinatures can proudly be displayed virtually anywhere. Each figure is just $24 and is available now through WaxworksRecords.com. (Note: Some figures are not shipping until next year)
Tarot Del Toro
For those interested in divination as well as the works of Guillermo del Toro comes the Tarot del Toro. Designed and illustrated by Tomás Hijo, this deck features original artwork inspired by the themes, imagery, and characters of some of del Toro’s most popular films, including Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, and The Shape of Water. Packaged in a collectible gift box, this tarot set features both major and minor arcana and comes with a helpful guidebook explaining each card’s meaning, as well as a simple introduction to creating and reading spreads.
I pre-ordered this deck and received it back in October when it was released and can vouch for the quality and beauty of the deck and its artwork. The Tarot del Toro is available from Amazon.
Friday the 13th Blu-ray Collection
Though this is a bit on the pricier side of gifts on this list, it’s definitely a must-have for the die-hard Friday the 13th fan in your life. The new 16 disc Blu-ray collection from Shout! Factory features all of the Friday the 13th films, including Freddy vs Jason and the 2009 Friday the 13th remake along with all of the previously released Friday the 13th film extras as well as all-new bonus materials, including commentaries with cast and crew. The Friday the 13th Blu-ray Collection is available from Amazon.
Trick ‘r Treat Omnibus
Released in hardcover back in September, the Trick ‘r Treat Omnibus features a special anniversary collection of all of the Trick ‘r Treat graphic novels in a single hardbound book. The collection features the graphic novel adaptation of the Trick ‘r Treat film as well as the “Days of the Dead” series where franchise icon Sam takes readers on a journey back through Halloween history with 4 chilling new Trick ‘r Treat tales. The Trick ‘r Treat Omnibus is available for purchase from Barnes & Noble.
Nightmare Before Christmas Spirit Board Tee
I love spirit boards and I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, so when you combine those two things together, even if it’s in the form of a shirt, you know I’m gonna love it. This black long-sleeve tee from The Nightmare Before Christmas features a Jack Skellington-themed spirit board design with graphics down the sleeve. The Nightmare Before Christmas Spirit Board Tee is available from Hot Topic.
Krampus Activity Book
Krampus is coming to town in this all-new officially licensed activity book from Fright-Rags and Legendary Comics. This Krampus activity book features 20 pages of holiday fun and comes with a four-pack of Fright-Rags crayons! At just $10 its perfect for someone on the naughty or the nice list. The Krampus Activity Book is available at Fright-Rags.com.
Count Chocula 10-inch Pop!
My personal favorite of the General Mills monsters, Count Chocula, got the giant Funko Pop! treatment last year. The limited-edition 10-inch Pop! is a Funko Shop exclusive and somehow, a year later, he still hasn’t sold out. I’m not sure if people just aren’t aware of him, or just assumed he, like so many other Pop! figures, had already sold out. If you have a General Mills Monster cereal lover on your list, consider ordering this $30 monster-sized Pop! while you still can.
LEGO Brick Headz Frankenstein
Released late in the 2020 Halloween season, this LEGO Brick Headz figure inspired by the classic Universal Monsters film Frankenstein is the perfect gift for LEGO building horror geek in your life. Built, the figure stands over 3-inches tall and comes with its own character ID and a sturdy baseplate for easy display. LEGO Brick Headz Frankenstein is just $9.99 and is available through the LEGO Shop.
World’s Smallest Horror Micro Action Figure
Finally, for those of you looking for some unique stocking stuffers, might I suggest the World’s Smallest Horror Micro Action Figures. Measuring only 1.25 inches tall, these miniature monsters feature three points of articulation and include a replica of their original action figure blister card and display stand. Classic monsters available include Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Invisible Man, and Count Orlok from Nosferatu. These figures are available from FYE, but unfortunately are shipped at random.
Hopefully this year’s gift guide gave you some ideas for finding the perfect holiday gift for the horror or Halloween geek in your life!
