Disney Home Entertainment is bringing the Stephen King horror-thriller “The Boogeyman” to Midsummer Scream all three days of the event in support of the upcoming at-home release of the film.
Fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of “The Boogeyman” as they try to avoid the terrifying supernatural entity and escape with their lives at “The Boogeyman” escape room. Midsummer Scream will also host “The Boogeyman” photo ops on the convention’s main floor.
Directed by Rob Savage (“Host”) and based on the short story by Stephen King, “The Boogeyman” follows high school student Sadie Harper (Sophie Thatcher) and her younger sister, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair), who are still reeling from the recent death of their mother. They’re not getting much support from their father, Will (Chris Messina), a therapist who’s dealing with his own intense pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their house seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.
Midsummer Scream returns to the Long Beach Convention Center from July 28 to 30. Often described as Southern California’s kick-off of the Halloween season, the event features previews from local haunted attractions and Halloween events of their fall plans, celebrity guests from the worlds of spooky and horror film, TV, and video games, hundreds of vendors to shop from, and live entertainment across multiple stages, and the Hall of Shadows: a massive hall filled with haunted walk-thrus and displays set up just for the weekend, showcasing the talents of SoCal’s best pro and home haunters.
Single-day and weekend passes to Midsummer Scream, along with the VIP Gold Bat pass, are now on sale at MidsummerScream.org. “The Boogeyman” will be creeping into homes soon.”
