The Carterhaugh School, an award-winning online school that offers courses on fairy tales, folklore, and more, will be hosting what they’re calling, “the Halloween of your (socially-distanced) dreams” with Haunted: An Online Halloween Extravaganza.
Part virtual convention, part party, the all-day Halloween celebration will take place on Halloween and feature 12 hours of workshops, readings, and lectures with some of the country’s top folklorists. Confirmed speakers at the event include:
- Dr. Theodora Goss, author of “Snow White Learns Witchcraft” and “The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club” series
- Lindsey Marton O’Brien, founder of Lumina Noctis
- Shveta Thakrar, author of “Star Daughter”
- Dr. Kay Turner, former president of the American Folklore Society
- Dr. Stephen Winick, folklorist of the Library of Congress and folksinger
- Dr. Margaret Yocom, professor emerita at George Mason University
Dr. Sara Cleto and Dr. Brittany Warman, founders of the Carterhaugh School of Folklore and the Fantastic, have put together a packed schedule that includes a workshop on how to write a Halloween fairy tale, a face-painting workshop, and lessons in mixology and supernatural ballads, paired for maximum potency. This, in addition to, live chats, Q&As, a storytelling circle, and more.
Tickets to this virtual event are on sale now and are just $87 or two payments of $45 if you wish to purchase on a payment plan. Tickets are available through October 30 at midnight EDT, and all sessions will be recorded and available to watch for one year.
