Earlier this month I shared that the team behind The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor was searching for talent to staff a new haunted attraction in Orlando, Florida and today the team released more details on what exactly haunt fans can expect this fall.
Dark Horizon: Point of No Return will be the first-ever West Coast-style haunt to debut in the east. The haunt will run over the course of 16 nights between October 4 and November 2, 2019 in the Back Lot of the Holiday Inn Suites Orland Resort Water Park in Orlando, Florida.
“Much like its predecessor on the West Coast, Dark Horizon will deliver death-defying entertainment, blood-curdling haunted houses, immersive bars, and festive fare,” commented Steve Sheldon, EPIC Entertainment Group Managing Partner and Dark Horizon Co-Producer.
The haunt will feature four immersive bars, three mazes, two live stages, hundreds of monsters, festive fare, and one ‘screaming’ good time.
“Dark Horizon’s haunted houses and main characters are based on Florida’s darker history and local lore, highlighting infamous tales of piracy, vodou and murder,” adds Charity Hill, EPIC Entertainment Group Managing Partner and Dark Horizon Co-Producer. “Dark Horizon will bring to life the stories of some of the more infamous figures in Florida’s history – Bloody Ed Watson, Mambo Cecile, and Captain Killigrew.”
Dark Horizon will be split up into three themed areas, The Port, The Glades, and The Village.
In The Port you’ll be transported back to an 1800’s pirate port featuring the Bootlegger’s Bungalows, Walk the Plank Pub & Pier, Siren Stage, Shark Bites, and the signature maze Ghostship, where you’ll come face to face with a band of crazed pirates lead by the most feared female pirate in history, Captain Killigrew.
In The Glades you’ll be transported to the early 1900s when the Glades were mostly uncharted territory called 10,000 Islands, a place where thugs, gangsters and outlaws went to disappear. This virtually lawless land is home to The Outpost Pub and Gator Grub and the signature maze Murder Island the home of Bloody Watson, the head of a sugar cane empire that instead of paying workers at the end of the season, they paid him with their lives.
Finally, The Village is a remote island destination that hides a vortex to the Vodouan underworld of Volikan. Here you’ll find the Sacred Circle Stage, the VIP Storm Celler & Shelter Patio and the signature maze Vodou. In Vodou you’ll traverse the foggy bog in an effort to escape the ancient Lwa spirits that have been awakened by Mambo Cécile.
More details on Dark Horizon: Point of No Return will be released on Sunday, August 4th at Midsummer Scream during the Dark Harbor panel in Long Beach, CA, but in the meantime haunt fans can take advantage of a killer special on General Admission Tickets for the next 72 hours.
