Over the weekend, Sammy Hain tipped me off to a new General Mills Monsters cereal over on X. Upon some further digging; I uncovered several product listings on sites like Amazon, Kroger, and Walmart that suggest we’ll be getting a new General Mills Monsters cereal this Halloween season called Monsters’ Frightful Friends. The cereal features Boo Berry, Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and the newly introduced Carmella Creeper, along with each of their pets.
According to the product description, Monsters’ Frightful Friends cereal is “a monster mash of berry flavored frosted cereal pieces and Monster Pet marshmallows.” And who might these monster pets be? Product images on Amazon feature Count Chocula’s pet spider Igor; Carmella Creeper’s pet snake, Scratch; Franken Berry’s pet bat Bennie; and Boo Berry’s pet cat Meow Berry.
Longtime fans of the Cereal Monsters might recall Igor as Count Chocula’s guard spider from this 1993 ad (though it looks like he’s gotten a bit of a new look for this cereal release):
According to the details in the product description, this release will be a limited edition and will only be available during the Halloween season. It will come in a collectible box featuring Boo Berry, Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Carmella Creeper, plus their pets.
While nothing has been officially announced yet, this appearing on an official product page for General Mills seems to suggest they might be getting ready to announce something soon. Last year General Mills gave us our first glimpse at their 2023 Halloween plans in June.
