After teasing the film with the release of its poster yesterday, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a teaser trailer for The Curse of La Llorona, a new film from the producers behind The Conjuring universe and director Michael Chaves.
Set in 1970’s Los Angeles, The Curse of La Llorona stars Linda Cardellini and brings to life the Mexican legend of La Llorona, the weeping woman. Legend has it that La Llorona drowned her children in a river during a jealous rage and then threw herself in after them as she wept in pain. Now, trapped between heaven and hell, La Llorona is left to roam the night stalking and preying on the children who hear her cries.
In The Curse of La Llorona, the weeping woman is stalking the night and the children of Los Angeles.
Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona’s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide.
This terrifying new take on the timeless Mexican legend is scheduled to hit theaters on April 19, 2019.
