“The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31” will be re-released this fall. The popular tabletop game was initially released in 2017 from Mondo and The Op and is based on the classic 1982 sci-fi horror film “The Thing.”
In “The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31,” you will relive John Carpenter’s sci-fi cult classic in a race to discover who among the team has been infected by this heinous lifeform. In the game, like in the film, an alien lifeform has infiltrated a bleak and desolate Antarctic research station assimilating other organisms and then imitating them. Play as one of 12 characters as you lead a series of investigations through the facility using supplies and equipment to clear the building.
Setup and components of the original game have been preserved for the re-release; however, the game will come with updated rules that make it even harder for players to identify the imitation. The game requires four to eight players and takes an average of 60 minutes to complete. The game is now available for pre-order for $59.99 and will be released on November 10, 2021.
