Earlier this summer, we learned that R.J. Macready, famously played by Kurt Russel in John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic, “The Thing,” would be getting his very own Funko Pop! figure thanks to the upcoming video game, “Funko Fusion.” With the game now available for pre-order on PC and console, we’ve since learned that more characters from “The Thing” will also be getting new Pop! figures.
Pop! Spider Head
Funko.com will be home to an exclusive new Pop! inspired by the Spider Head, which split off from the Thing when it posed as Vance Norris and was burned by MacReady with his flamethrower. The figure stands just over three inches tall and includes a redeemable code for an in-game item for Funko Fusion. When it’s released, the figure will cost $15, and you can sign up now at Funko.com to be notified when it goes on sale.
Pop! Deluxe The Blair Monster
The second figure will be more widely available and is based on the Thing when it takes on the appearance of the character Blair, among other things. The figure stands nearly seven inches tall and has the chance of being an “Eddi-fied” chase variant. Eddi-fied variants are inspired by the villain in “Funko Fusion,” Eddy, who uses a purple sludge to warp characters into his own distorted image. The figure will cost $30 when released and include a redeemable code for an in-game item for Funko Fusion. The Blair Monster is available for pre-order now and is expected to be released on October 16.
“Funko Fusion” is a third-person action-adventure game that brings together over 60 unique playable characters from more than 20 fan-favorite franchises from movies, TV shows, and comics. Among the horror reveals thus far, we know we’ll be getting characters and worlds inspired by “JAWS,” “The Thing,” “Chucky,” “M3GAN,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Shaun of the Dead.”
The game features a unique blend of exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving, all wrapped up in a humorous and lighthearted tone. You’ll journey through worlds inspired by classic franchises, battling enemies, collecting items, and unlocking new playable characters.
“Funk Fusion” arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on September 13. The game will also be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on November 15.
