Earlier this year I shared that Snapchat was developing two new horror shows as part of its Snap Originals lineup. One of those shows, “Dead of Night,” is set to premiere this weekend and the show’s trailer was released this week.
Created by Bazelevs, the company behind the Unfriended films, and based on a story from Hooked, “Dead of Night” follows a teenage girl who must escape a quarantined city full of zombies, armed with only her phone.
The series is shot in ScreenLife, exclusively from the point of view of a smartphone screen making it feel like viewers are living and witnessing the experience first hand.
“‘Dead of Night’ marks a new milestone in the evolution of Screenlife,” says series producer Timur Bekmambetov. “Producing for Snapchat and going vertical makes the story more immersive and acknowledges reliance on our phones and their essential role in our lives. And since subconsciously, we find footage captured by the phone more believable, our project will deliver a never before seen level of realism and dynamic to Snapchat users.”
“Dead of Night” will premiere on Saturday, September 14, 2019. You can access the full lineup of Snap Originals content through the Snap Originals website.
