I’m a huge Guillermo del Toro fan. I love the heart he puts into his monster movies and I love that above anything he is still a fan of the genre he creates for, which is why I love this new limited edition collectible figure being released by Unruly Industries from Ecuadorian artist Chogrin.
The figure is called “Guru del Toro: Maestro of Monsters” and it is Chogrin’s tribute to del Toro and his filmography. The figure was based on an illustration Chogrin created to honor del Toro and his work. “Guillermo has always been a patron for misunderstood creatures and an inspiration for artists around the world,” says Chogrin. “I wanted to create something that captured all those things in one.”
The guru’s hands, claws and tentacles all represent the countless universes del Toro has created over the years with the most recognizable appendage striking a strong resemblance to that of Pale Man’s from Pan’s Labyrinth.
The Guru del Toro figure is available now for pre-order for $80 and is limited to an edition size of 400. The figure is expected to begin shipping in December of 2020 and can be pre-ordered through the Unruly Industries website.
