On Friday, Lionsgate released the official trailer for the upcoming horror reboot, “The Strangers: Chapter 1.”
From director Renny Harlin (“The Exorcist: The Beginning”), “The Strangers: Chapter 1” is the first film in a trilogy of new movies in “The Strangers” franchise. The film stars Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale”) as a young woman on a road trip with her fiancé. But when they stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a vicious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason and must use courage and cunning to survive one long, terrifying night.
Other members of the cast include Froy Gutierrez and Gabriel Basso.
Bryan Bertino, who wrote the original “The Strangers” and co-wrote its sequel “The Strangers: Prey at Night,” is credited with the story for “The Strangers: Chapter 1.”
“The Strangers: Chapter 1” will arrive in theaters on May 17, 2024.
The original “The Strangers” was released in 2008 and starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple targeted by masked killers who break into their vacation home. The second film, “The Strangers: Prey at Night,” was released in 2018 and starred Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman, Christina Hendricks, and Martin Henderson as a family who winds up in a seemingly abandoned mobile home park, only to be hunted by a trio of psychopaths under the cover of darkness.
