Vampire Horror Romance ‘Drained’ Coming to On Demand from Level 33 Entertainment

“Drained,” the vampire feature film from British filmmakers Peter Stylianou and Sean Cronin, has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment and will receive a North American release on VOD on January 28, 2025.

Set in the neon-soaked streets of London, the film follows Thomas, a jobless concept artist who lives with his mother, who falls in love with Rhea, a mysterious woman who turns out to be a vampire. Their intense romance spirals into codependency, exploring the intoxicating nature of love and addiction. As Thomas willingly feeds Rhea, captivated by the pleasure of being needed, he risks losing himself in the process.

“Beneath the surface of this vampiric romance, the film delves deeper, exploring the addictive nature of today’s society,” said Stylianou. “Just as Thomas becomes ensnared in Rhea’s world, modern life presents its own metaphorical vampires, be it social media, substance abuse, or other self-destructive habits. The film paints a striking portrait of why individuals give themselves to these draining forces.”

Ruaridh Aldington (“Dirty Boy”) and Madalina Bellariu Ion (“Take Cover”) star as the ill-fated couple, with a supporting cast including Craig Conway (“Final Score”), Angela Dixon (“Never Let Go”), Natasha Patel (“The Witcher: Blood Origin”), Andrew Lee Potts (“The Witcher”), Andrew Lyle-Pinnock (“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”), Diana Yekinni (“Heart of Stone”), Ayvianna Snow (“How to Kill Monsters”), Kenton Lloyd Morgan and Timothy Blore.

“Growing up in Transylvania, Romania, I’ve always dreamt of playing a vampire,” said Bellariu Ion. “So, portraying Rhea was a perfect fit for me! The blend of fantasy horror and gritty realism in this film created an unforgettable experience that stayed with me long after filming ended. I hope the audience feels the same way after watching it. It’s a truly unique vampire film.”

Co-directed and produced by Cronin and Stylianou from a screenplay by the latter, the supernatural horror film โ€“ which premiered at the prestigious Screamfest Horror Film Festival in October 2024 โ€“ was filmed in London, England, and is a Magnificent Films/House 54/RG Films co-production. House 54 is run by cinematographer and producer Daniel Patrick Vaughan, who brought all parties together for this co-production.

“Drained” will be available via Amazon, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, among other premium digital channels.
