Recently Vans unveiled it was releasing a new Vans x Horror collection featuring a variety of styles inspired by iconic horror films. This week Vans unveiled additional items from the collection, which revealed that the collection would also include apparel and accessories, products inspired by “The Lost Boys,” as well as some Christmas-themed products. However, it’s not entirely apparent what horror franchise the Christmas shoes are associated with.
For fans of “Friday the 13th,” in addition to the previously teased “Friday the 13th” slip-ons, Vans has showcased a hat, hoodie, socks, and pair of long sleeve t-shirts that feature Jason Voorhees’ iconic hockey mask and “Friday the 13th” logos. Vans will also be releasing a red and black version of its Checkerboard La Costa Slide-On with a matching backpack featuring the checkered print and iconic hockey mask.
For fans of “The Shining,” a new hat, long sleeve t-shirt, socks, and slip-on style shoes, all inspired by the film’s Grady Twins, have been revealed.
For fans of “IT,” Vans has unveiled a new yellow hoodie and hat featuring Pennywise’s iconic red balloon. A new t-shirt and socks were also revealed, which feature the face of Pennywise on them. A red mini backpack presumably inspired by Pennywise’s red balloon has also been shared as well as a new pair of sneakers. The all-white Lowland style Vans feature yellow laces and an allover print that says “YOU’LL FLOAT TOO” in grey lettering. The shoe’s tongue features a red balloon on it.
Joining the previously unveiled titles of “IT,” “A Nightmare On Elm Street,” “The Shining,” and “Friday the 13th,” with the latest reveals is “The Lost Boys.” For now, Vans is showcasing a hoodie featuring the film’s title across the chest and the words “SLEEP ALL DAY. PARTY ALL NIGHT. NEVER GROW OLD. NEVER DIE.” on the hood. Also teased from “The Lost Boys” is a black Creeper style shoe with the “The Lost Boys” logo on the heel.
Finally, Vans has showcased two new pairs of shoes that appear to be Christmas-themed. Featured in an image on the Vans x Horror website, the image resolution is tiny, so it’s unclear what film has inspired these newly unveiled shoes. I looked for clues on the site itself, but the image file is titled horror_photo_shoes_xmas, while some sleuthing into the code on the page finds the container that holds the image titled “blackxmas.”
While not exactly a broadly known horror like “Friday the 13th,” or “IT,” the 1974 film “Black Christmas” was distributed by Warner Bros. in the U.S. With all of the other licenses in the collection held by Warner Bros. is it possible we’re getting “Black Christmas” shoes? Only time will tell, and according to Vans’ social media postings, they’ll be “available soon.” To be alerted when the new collection is live, visit https://www.vans.com/horror.
