[WATCH] Christina Ricci Faces Both Physical and Emotional Demons in Trailer for ‘Monstrous’

This week, Screen Media Films released the official trailer for “Monstrous,” the new period horror starring Christina Ricci.

Directed by Chris Sivertson (“I Know Who Killed Me”) and written by Carol Chrest (“The Prophet’s Game”), “Monstrous” is set in the summer of 1955. In it, Laura (Ricci) and her seven-year-old son Cody start a new life at a remote lakeside farmhouse. But after a disturbing phone call from her abusive ex-husband, we learn that their idyllic new life is not all that it seems. Still traumatized, their physical and mental well-being are pushed to the limit as their fragile existence is threatened.

“Our hero Laura clings to an illusion of perfection until it becomes impossible to do so any longer,” says Silvertson. “In order to finally face the external monster of the movie, she must face her own internal demons.”

Ricci stars alongside Colleen Camp (“Sliver”), Santino Bernard (“8-Bit Christmas”), Don Balderamos (“Suburbicon”), and Nick Vallelonga (“Green Book”) in this terrifying new horror.

“Monstrous” hits theaters and On Demand on May 13, 2022.
