Over the span of 25 years and across five installments of the “Scream” franchise, Ghostface has spent his days terrorizing the fictional town of Woodsboro, California. That changes next year with the release of “Scream VI,” which received its first trailer on Wednesday.
That next installment in the “Scream” franchise finds the four survivors from the most recent “Scream” film looking for a fresh start in New York, but by the looks of things, even leaving Woodsboro won’t let you escape Ghostface.
While franchise star Neve Campbell is not returning for the film, “Scream” veteran Courteney Cox will return as Gale Weathers, alongside Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding, who joined the franchise with 2022’s “Scream.” “Scream 4” star Hayden Panettiere is also returning for “Scream VI,” reprising her role as Kirby Reed. Newcomers to the franchise include Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
“Scream VI” also features the return of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who joined the franchise for the fifth installment, which was released 11 years after “Scream 4.” Wes Craven directed the first four “Scream” films.
“Scream VI” will arrive in theaters on March 10, 2023.
