‘Wendell & Wild:’ Official Teaser Arrives for Henry Selick and Jordan Peele’s New Stop-Motion Feature

Last week, we learned that Netflix’s stop motion animated feature “Wendell & Wild” would arrive in time for Halloween with its streaming premiere and a limited theatrical release. Now Netflix has released an official teaser for the film that introduces us to Kat Elliot, the 13-year-old girl at the heart of the film who, in the teaser, is asked to face her demons.

The trailer descends into a shadow play of memories from her past before we’re introduced to actual demons Wendell and Wild, played by comedy duo Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

In “Wendell & Wild, Kat, played by Lyric Ross, is a troubled teen haunted by her past and must confront her demons, Wendell & Wild, to start a new life in her old hometown. This animated fantasy defies the law of life and death, all told through the handmade artistry of stop motion.

Rounding out the film’s cast are Angela Bassett, James Hong, Tamara Smart, Natalie Martinez, Tantoo Cardinal, Igal Naor, Gary Gatewood, Gabrielle Dennis, David Harewood, Maxine Peake, Ramona Young, Sam Zelaya, Seema Virdi, and Ving Rhames.

The teaser gives us a glimpse into an all-new stop motion world created by Selick and features all of the nightmarish touches we have come to love from the “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Coraline” director and so much more.

“Wendell & Wild” will debut on Netflix on October 28 and arrive in select theaters on October 21.
