On Friday, Mezco Toyz shared a cryptic Instagram post featuring its Living Dead Dolls logo with the words, “Some things won’t stay dead…” beneath it. The post was reminiscent of a short video Mezco posted in 2021 that teased the dolls’ return but never seemed to come to fruition. In fact, it’s been five years since there has been a true Living Dead Dolls release, with the last series released in 2018 for the line’s 20th anniversary.
Admittedly, Living Dead Dolls never entirely went away thanks to Mezco’s LDD Presents line, which reimagines licensed characters like Wednesday Addams and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, in the style of the highly collectible dolls. But no original dolls have been released in recent years.
It seems that that might finally change, and we could know more as soon as next week. The animation shared on Instagram was captioned, “Catch a creepy glimpse of who wants to play dead on 2/14.” Could we see a new series of Living Dead Dolls come Valentine’s Day? 2021’s tease didn’t have a date, so it seems Mezco has something to commit to this time. Will it be a proper Living Dead Dolls release, or is this simply hyping us for another LDD Presents reveal? Only time will tell, but this longtime Living Dead Dolls fan is hopeful.
