When the cult film “Willy’s Wonderland” was released in 2021, a 2.5D beat ’em-up mobile game based on the film was released as a limited-time tie-in to the movie. On Thursday, it was announced that the game would make its return and be revamped for PCs and all modern consoles for a big-screen gaming experience.
In “Willy’s Wonderland,” Nicholas Cage stars as a silent drifter stranded in a small town after his car gets a flat tire. Unable to pay for the repairs, Cage’s character is offered a trade: clean a creepy, abandoned family fun center called Willy’s Wonderland in exchange for the new tires.
With no other options, Cage’s character finds himself locked in the location overnight as The Janitor. But Willy’s Wonderland holds a dark secret: its animatronic characters come alive after dark and are not friendly. Now, the drifter must fight for survival against a horde of bloodthirsty, possessed animatronics in a brutal, action-packed night.
The game transforms the events from the film into a classic fighting game where players take control of movie characters The Janitor or Liv as they face the hordes of evil commanded by the nefarious animatronics—Tito Turtle, Siren Sara, Arty Alligator, Cammy Chameleon, Willy Weasel and more!
Players can go at it alone or team up in cooperative mode to try different combinations of punches and kicks to create different combos and use special techniques and powerful abilities to eliminate Willy and his henchmen.
Each level is inspired by the various locations in the film and features multiple waves of enemies and threatening bosses.
“Willy’s Wonderland – The Game” will be released on June 13 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
