Midsummer Scream on Wednesday announced that they’ve partnered with Cinematic Void to offer a special advanced screening of the “WNUF Halloween Sequel,” the follow-up to the cult classic “WNUF Halloween Special.”
The “WNUF Halloween Special” is a low-budget love letter to local television and VHS recordings. It features fake news segments and commercials from a faux 1987 Halloween broadcast where a visit to an alleged haunted house goes horribly awry on “live” television. The sequel fast forwards to the 90s for a new nostalgic nightmare full of over-the-top October kitsch and more kooky and cringey commercials.
The screening will take place on the evening of July 29 (a screening time to be announced later), and Cinematic Void will host a pre-screening mixer featuring cocktails, spooky visuals, and music. The screening will take place in the HorrorBuzz Screaming Room at Midsummer Scream, followed by a post-film Q&A with filmmaker Chris LaMartina and co-producer/star Melissa LaMartina.
Admission to the screening is included with any Friday, weekend, or Gold Bat ticket to Midsummer Scream. Tickets to the event are still available and can be purchased at midsummerscream.org.
Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center Friday, July 29, through Sunday, July 31.
